Although we live in a gated community we have a farm within walking distance. The kids love it and so do I. Just witnessed my first egg laying hah!

LOL, NO! We have hampsters. 
We do however live within walking distance of a great little farm. They have pigs, horses, goats, chickens, peacocks, cows. The kids love it and so do I, we can go pet them all and not have to feed or clean them!
